We are Heading to China Next Week     24 June, 2010, 08:50 am
We have just returned from a great trip to Haiti and are now getting ready to leave for China. My daughters Michelle and Kimberly will be going with me as we leave on Monday, June 28th.

We are leaving a week ahead of the rest of the team because I have to make a stop in London, and I need to arrive in Hong Kong early to get things read for the teams arrival. Also, Monday was the only day I could get a seat with my miles.

For the next month, please look for daily updates on the China Plog as it appears. We have 16 people coming over from the USA, and 5 of our team from Hong Kong that will be conducting an English Camp in Hangzhong from July 7th to 21st.

I will be posting on Twitter, Facebook, and the EPI PLOG and Gallery Websites. Please follow our progress and thank you for your prayers.

We Welcome Justin and Krista to EPI     28 May, 2010, 01:27 pm
Welcome to Justin and Krista Ochocki
Special Project Development

Justin and Krista Ochocki of Broomfield, Colorado developed a heart for international missions and have pursued that passion over the last several years with EPI. In October of 2009, they left their jobs for a year to travel overseas and work with EPI’s partners in Zimbabwe, Kenya, and Nepal. After that trip they wanted to be more involved with the ministry. They accepted a position with EPI in Special Project Development where they are in charge of raising money and awareness for EPI's various endeavors around the world. They also lead project teams to these fields.

When not working for EPI, Justin is a facilities engineer for EnCana Natural Gas in Denver, CO. He obtained his B.S. degree in chemical engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2001. Justin's gifts in engineering are well suited for detailed organizational work in missions.

Krista is a counselor and was working in a high school in the Denver area before their travels. She received her Masters in Counseling from Denver Seminary in 2008 and her undergraduate B.S. degree in Behavioral Neuroscience from Furman University in 2003. Krista's heart for people is a tremendous asset on the field. She uses her counseling training assisting hurting people around the world. When she is not working for EPI she has a counseling practice in Denver.

Justin and Krista have been married since 2007. They met at Flatirons Community Church in Lafayette, Colorado, where they have been involved in the high school and singles ministry. When they are not traveling the world, Justin and Krista enjoy spending time with friends and family, camping, skiing, biking, running, and reading. Since their first trip with EPI in 2008 they have been hooked on missions.

Nepal Unrest Makes Life Difficult     13 May, 2010, 09:41 am
As many of you know, EPI has a long history of partnership in Nepal, dating back to the early 90s. They now have a thriving Bible College, over 500 orphans in care, and hundreds of churches planted. This year we will be in Nepal in July and October, and then we have a large project planned for March of 2011.

We have witnessed many changes in Nepal over the years. In 1996, the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) started a bid to replace the royal parliamentary system with a people's socialist republic by violent means. This led to the long Nepal Civil War and more than 12,000 deaths. In 2001, there was a massacre in the royal palace and the royal family was killed. An uncle, Gyanendra, inherited the throne and dismissed the entire government. Through much turmoil the House of Representatives was reinstated in 2006 with a majority of Maoists in control. In May 2009, the Maoist-led government was toppled and another coalition government with all major political parties barring the Maoists was formed.

With all of this there continue to be strikes and demonstrations which make life difficult for the people of Nepal and specifically for our friends there. They have asked for our prayers as they seek to bring the love of Christ to every part of Nepal. Please pray for our friend Bob Tebow of Jacksonville, FL who will be visiting this month, and then for Jim Howard (EPI) who will be working with the Bible College in July. Please pray for all of our workers who need protection and provision all the time.

The Board Meeting is Behind Us Now     6 May, 2010, 12:34 pm
The board meeting is now behind us and we are focussed on our next three projects, Haiti, China, and India. We are still in great need of at least 2 more people to go with us to China. If you or anyone you know might be interested in going with us please contact our office or email us.

The Haiti project is coming up in a month and we are gathering supplies for this extensive work. We will be doing evangelism, church planting, medical clinics, and VBS in a remote area of the central mountains of Haiti. Our director, Wadestrandt Jean-Baptiste has been here in the States and is now back there setting things up for our team.

The China project will be on us before we know it. Even now we are assembling the teaching materials and buying plane tickets. Airfares have gone up and the airlines no longer allow us to hold seats at a certain ticket price. Basically everything is instant purchase or wait and take your chances. This means that people have to have their money raised for the trips on time or risk the price going up. It's a problem that God knows about and we are dealing with on a daily basis.

On another note, we had two guest couples with us for the board meeting: Justin and Krista Ochocki (Denver, CO) and Wilson and Aruna Baria (Ahmedebad, India). The Ochockis have spent the last 7 months traveling around the world to different EPI fields and reporting back to us on progress. The Barias are here in Maine for the first time and fired up our vision for India and for the project we will do with them in September.

Thank you to everyone who supports this ministry with prayer and finances. We could not do this without you.
