EPI 2010 Ghana Project About To Begin!24 February, 2010, 01:35 pm
Final preparations for our 2010 Ghana Project are now under way. This will be our last weekly “blog” until we return from Ghana, so beginning next week, look for our daily “plog” (Project Log) direct from Ghana.
Phil leaves next Monday, March 1st and arrives in Ghana on the 3rd where he will make final preparations before the team arrives. The rest of the team leaves on Thursday, March 4th and will arrive in Ghana on Friday, March 5th. We have a team of 9 people joining us from the US and the UK. As in previous years, we will be joining our partners from Revival Restoration Center in Accra, Ghana. They will have a team of 25 to 30 people joining this project in various capacities.
We have many different venues for ministry planned for the project including preaching at churches on Sunday, four medical & eye clinics, daily school meetings, open-air meetings each day, Jesus Film each evening, and a leadership conference for pastors and lay leaders. We will be working in the Volta Region in and around the city of Ho.
As always, we appreciate and depend upon your prayer support for this project. Please pray for travel mercies for the entire team, both air travel and in country road travel. Pray also for unity among the entire team, both Ghanaians and EPI team members. Most importantly, please pray that God would open our hearts to hear His voice, and to follow His leading as we reach out to the people in Ghana. We trust that He has already prepared the minds and hearts of the people there to receive the Gospel through both word and deed.
So, don’t forget to check out the daily “plogs” beginning next week.
Thanks again for your prayers and partnership.

Justin and Krista in Nepal17 February, 2010, 12:30 pm
As you may recall our friends Justin and Krista Ochocki are taking a year to travel around the world visiting some of the EPI Fields and Friends. They spent 3 months in Zimbabwe in the fall. Then they participated in our Kenya project in January. And now they are visiting our work in Nepal.
They have been in Nepal for almost a month now and are getting to see the extensive work there. It is the cold season in Kathmandu so they are using a lot of blankets at night. They are staying with our partners and helping out at the orphanage and Bible College.
J&K have a heart for the Child Rescue ministry that we have been doing for a number of years in Nepal. This ministry rescues young girls from human trafficking and prostitution slavery. They have met with the girls that we have rescued so far. Krista is a trained counselor and is helping to work with the overseers at the house where the girls are located.
Justin and Krista have a great blog that they have been writing about their exploits. Check it out at

Small Trip to Haiti Planned11 February, 2010, 09:14 am
While we are in the midst of sorting through medicines and supplies for Ghana in 3 weeks, we are also planning a small trip to Haiti. John Pullen will take 2 other people to Haiti to visit Wawa for a couple of nights to assess the needs and the viability of following through with our June project.
God has blessed with some funds for Wawa and the ministry there. The board of EPI voted to suspend our normal administrative expenses for any money donated to Haiti through June 30th, 2010. So 100% of donations will be going to Wawa over the next few weeks. We will have updates on what he is able to do with the funds as soon as we receive word.
Please pray for our upcoming project to Ghana as well. We need funds for medicine for this trip. It takes about $3 to treat a person in our clinics. It is a great way to share the gospel and see people respond.

The Sights and Smells of Haiti4 February, 2010, 09:19 am
I have another update from Haiti. We were able to communicate with Wawa this morning on a clear connection. The situation there is much the same as they seek to care for 3,000 people on campus. Sanitation has become a big concern. They have dug latrines, however, it takes some effort to make people use them, impressing on them the urgency for cleanliness.
The campus is not that big and all of the people are out of doors sleeping on whatever open ground there is to find. I've been on the campus and it is just not that big. There must be people sleeping on every square inch of property. They have also "trained" 16 men to act as security for the people. They have gotten them uniforms, and they act as some measure of protection both inside and from outside the camp.
One of Wawa's jobs is to try and keep a steady supply of fuel for the generators. He is also in charge of locating food and helping out with issues in the camp. You can imagine trying to cook for 3,000 people everyday, using whatever burns for heat. There are multiple camp fires going at any given time. The combination of smells is overwhelming.
Please continue to pray for Wawa. He is doing a fantastic job. Please also pray for his wife Josette. She was traumatized by the earthquake, and has a very difficult time dealing with the aftershocks which are still going on.
