Eagle Projects is a church-planting, evangelistic, and humanitarian ministry that operates primarily in third- world countries. We utilize a variety of outreach methods to take the gospel all the way to where people are located.
Each project is planned a year in advance and requires volunteers to make it a success. For more than 25 years Eagle Projects has been taking the gospel of Jesus Christ to some of the world’s least-reached people. To accomplish the ministry goals the Lord has given us, we utilize the talents and abilities of Christians from all over the world. No matter what your gifting is, we can likely use you on a project.
Our efforts in a specific country begin with extensive planning together with qualified, spirit-filled national partners. We work with them to find places that have little or no exposure to the gospel and then determine the best method for outreach and church development. This may involve medical or vision clinics, English camps, VBS, church leadership training, or open-air evangelism. Every project is designed to plant a new church or strengthen an already existing church plant.
Contact us by phone or email as soon as you think there might be a possibility that you want to participate in a project. Even if you haven’t made a final decision to join us, please let us know that you are considering it. We have to reserve airline seats as soon as possible. We can always cancel a seat, but we can’t always get one at a later date.
You will need a passport that has not expired or will not expire within 6 months of the time of the project date. If you don’t have a valid passport, you can obtain a passport application online or at your local post office. Obtaining a legal passport can take up to eight weeks or more, so it is important to begin this process as soon as possible. Once you receive your passport make sure to sign it.
In most cases, we will get the visas for the project participants. The process of acquiring a visa is different for every country. Contact us to find out what you need to do for your project.
Each project is different from year to year, even to the same country. Airfares vary greatly. We try our best to keep the trip cost low. The cost of the project is listed on the project information page.
One of our goals has always been to cover all of the project expenses for the nationals we work with. We don’t want our work with them to be a financial burden. So we cover all of the trip costs, including project preparation and follow-up expenses.
All of the costs of an EPI trip (airfare, food, lodging, transportation, visas, in-country expenses), from time of departure to time of return, are included in the published price. There are rare occasions when we have to adjust the trip cost because of unexpected changes in airfare, etc. However, it is rare, and if we do have to make changes, we will inform you as early as possible.
There are two things that we don’t include in the project costs.
In addition to the published project cost, you will be responsible for any necessary immunizations and medications that your doctor or clinic might recommend. Consult mdtravelhealth.com for info regarding recommended vaccinations.
You will also be required to have Medical Emergency Evacuation and Repatriation Insurance. The EPI Board has chosen MedjetAssist. MedjetAssist is a comprehensive service that has their own international jets and doctors. They do things that other international medical insurance outfits are unable to provide. For liability reasons, our board has chosen this organization, which gives the highest level of service should the need arise. Please visit their website at www.medjetassist.com and sign up for their service to cover the duration of your trip. MedjetAssist will issue you with an insurance number. When you have the number, please notify us.
Begin the process of building your prayer support network by talking with your pastor or missions committee about the project you have in mind. Also, tell your Sunday school class and other church groups to which you belong. Ask them to pray for you, for EPI, and for our partners overseas. Ask them to pray that the Holy Spirit will prepare the hearts and minds of those who will hear the gospel.
Make a list of family and friends who you can ask for support. Don’t just list believers; going on a mission trip can be a powerful witness to non-believers and a great way to share your faith. You may be surprised at their willingness to support your trip financially.
You should send a letter to everyone on your support list explaining the project and how they can help. A sincere appeal for prayer and financial support will mean a great deal to those who love and care about you. Tell people about the place you are going and why it’s important for you to be on this trip.
If you plan to raise support for your participation, it is important that you begin your fund-raising well in advance of the project. We strongly recommend that you send out your first fund raising letter at least 4 months prior to the project departure date.
Money raised for your participation on an EPI project is tax-deductible and non-refundable. If you send a support letter to family and friends, you should include a response envelope back to you. Contributions will then be mailed back to you so you can keep track of donations to your account and send thank-you notes. You can then forward the donations to EPI for processing and credit to your project account.
Since we have to purchase airline tickets early to get the best price, we ask that 50% of the trip cost is raised 60 days prior to the trip departure date. The remaining balance is due 30 days prior to the trip. Given the time necessary to raise and submit funds for the trip, we recommend you begin sending support letters at least 120 days prior to the departure date.
People may donate by mailing a check. Checks should be made out to Eagle Projects International. Please note that by IRS regulations, your name should NOT appear anywhere on the check itself. Donors may attach
a note to the check specifying that it is for you.
People may also donate online at our website. There is a menu item for “Project Participant” where they can fill in your name.
If you are unable to participate in your scheduled EPI trip for any reason, the money you raised will be kept in your account for up to one year, during which time you may participate in another EPI project. After one year, the money will go into EPI’s general fund to be used in evangelism around the world.
